She is Uma, Rama and Brahmani, the mother of the world, worshipped by the Sun, the Moon and Narada; in the form of Durga she gives happiness and wealth. Every virtue comes to the home where she lives, and no ritual, clothing or food is possible without her. Whoever sings her aarti is filled with joy and freed of sin.
About the Lakshmi Chalisa
It hails her as the daughter of the ocean and beloved of Vishnu, who rose among the fourteen treasures when the ocean of milk was churned, and who takes a new form to serve the Lord in each of his avatars, appearing as Sita at Janakpur when he was born as Rama.
The later verses describe the blessings of reading it: freedom from illness, children, wealth and happiness, especially when it is read for forty days with faith. It closes with Ramdas asking the Mother to take away fear and trouble.
