Chhath Puja is the festival of Surya, the Sun, and Chhathi Maiya, kept mainly in Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh and the Nepal Terai on Shukla Shashthi of Kartika, six days after Diwali. Devotees (vratis) keep a fast of about 36 hours without water and stand in a river or pond to offer arghya to the setting and the rising Sun.
It lasts four days: Nahay Khay (a holy bath and a single satvik meal), Kharna (a day-long fast broken in the evening with jaggery kheer and roti), Sandhya Arghya at sunset on Shashthi, and Usha Arghya at sunrise the next morning, after which the fast is broken.
The arghya times are each city's sunset and sunrise, so they are given here for 15 cities. Chhath falls on the day Shashthi is current at sunrise.
Times for Indian cities are Indian Standard Time; times abroad are local time. They match established panchangs to within a minute or two. For a city not listed, the nearest city is usually within a few minutes.
