Trigun swami ki aarti jo koi nar gaveKahat Shivanand Swami manvanchhit phal pave
Glory to Shiva, the sound Om, in whom Brahma, Vishnu and Sadashiva are one. The aarti describes his forms with one, four and five faces, riding the swan, Garuda and the bull; his rosaries and garlands, the moon on his brow, the trident and the kamandalu; and says only the unwise think the three gods separate, for in Om they are one. Whoever sings it, says Swami Shivanand, gains what the heart desires.
About this aarti
It praises Shiva as Om itself, in whom Brahma, Vishnu and Sadashiva are one: with one, four and five faces, riding the swan, Garuda and the bull, wearing rudraksha, flower and skull garlands, with the moon on his brow, and creator, sustainer and destroyer of the world. It is often called the Trigun (three-quality) aarti for this reason.
How to do aarti
- Light a lamp of ghee (or camphor) on a plate, with flowers, a little rice and incense.
- Ring a small bell and wave the plate in clockwise circles before the deity while singing: traditionally four times at the feet, twice at the navel, once at the face and seven times over the whole image.
- After the aarti, pass your hands over the flame and touch them to your eyes and forehead, and share the prasad.
Read the Shiv Chalisa
This aarti is usually sung right after the chalisa; read it with the meaning of every verse.
