How house and flat number numerology works

Every home has a rhythm of its own. In Vedic and Chaldean numerology, the digits and wing letters painted on your front door reduce to a single number from 1 to 9, linked with one of the nine planets (Navagraha). That number describes the day-to-day atmosphere of the home—whether it feels lively and social like Mercury (5), cozy and family-centred like Venus (6), or quiet and studious like Ketu (7).

Our calculator checks two totals at once:

  1. Full address total (letters + digits): Includes wing, block or tower letters (such as B-402 or 14A) using the Chaldean 1–8 letter table alongside the unit digits.
  2. Unit digits total: Adds only the numerical digits of the flat or plot (402 → 4 + 0 + 2 = 6) so you can compare how the door digits read on their own.

When you enter your date of birth, the report also compares your home's number against your Moolank and Bhagyank to give a clear Lucky, Neutral or Not recommended verdict.

What each house number (1 to 9) feels like

| House number | Ruling planet | Home atmosphere & who it suits | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | 1 | Sun (Surya) | Independent, ambitious, bright. Great for self-starters, founders and solo professionals. | | 2 | Moon (Chandra) | Calm, nurturing, cooperative. Ideal for young couples, families and peaceful living. | | 3 | Jupiter (Guru) | Wise, cheerful, family-oriented. Supports study, children, teaching and advisory work. | | 4 | Rahu | Structured, practical, disciplined. Suits engineers and planners; asks for regular upkeep. | | 5 | Mercury (Budh) | Social, adaptable, busy. Great for networking, business from home and frequent travellers. | | 6 | Venus (Shukra) | Warm, artistic, harmonious. One of the most loved numbers for family comfort and hospitality. | | 7 | Ketu | Quiet, reflective, private. Suits writers, researchers, analysts and spiritual seekers. | | 8 | Saturn (Shani) | Serious, financially focused, enduring. Rewards discipline; best for birth numbers 4, 5, 6 and 8. | | 9 | Mars (Mangal) | Energetic, generous, active. Suits large households, community work and active lifestyles. |

Simple remedies when you cannot change your flat number

Most people cannot change the municipal or society number of their apartment. If your door total clashes with your Moolank or Bhagyank, traditional practitioners use gentle, non-structural adjustments:

  • Add a friendly letter or numeral on the inner nameplate: Writing a small letter (such as A = 1 or E = 5) on your personal nameplate inside the entrance shifts the Chaldean total toward one of your friendly numbers.
  • Lean into the ruling planet's best habits: For example, in a number 4 or 8 flat, keep corridors clutter-free, fix leaky taps promptly and maintain steady lighting in the entrance.

FAQ

House Number Numerology FAQs

How do I calculate my house or flat number in numerology?

Add all the digits of your door or flat number together and reduce the sum to a single digit from 1 to 9. If your flat number includes a wing, block or tower letter that is part of your unit address (such as B-402 or 12A), convert the letter using the Chaldean 1–8 chart (B = 2, A = 1) and add it to the digits: B-402 is 2 + 4 + 0 + 2 = 8.

Should I include the building name or street name when calculating a house number?

In Indian Vastu-numerology, only the unique identifier on your door or flat plate—such as 402, B-402, or Plot 17A—is calculated. The street, society name and pin code are shared with neighbours and are not part of your personal unit number.

Which house numbers are considered lucky in numerology?

Numbers 3 (Jupiter—growth and family learning), 5 (Mercury—adaptability and trade), 6 (Venus—harmony, comfort and family warmth) and 1 (Sun—leadership and independence) are widely popular. However, the best house number for you is one that is friendly to your own Moolank (driver) and Bhagyank (conductor).

Is house number 8 or 4 bad in numerology?

Neither 4 (Rahu) nor 8 (Saturn) is universally bad. People whose Moolank or Bhagyank is friendly to 4 or 8—such as 4, 5, 6 or 8—often thrive in an 8 or 4 home, particularly in finance, law, engineering or real estate. If a house number clashes with your birth numbers, practitioners often place a small secondary numeral or letter inside the doorframe to adjust the total.

What if two family members have different birth numbers?

When a family shares a home, numerologists usually check the house number against the primary homeowner or breadwinner's Moolank and Bhagyank first, or look for universally balanced numbers such as 3, 5 or 6 that sit comfortably with most birth dates.
